Wall Stencils Question And Answer
I need to make a stencil for wall art...?
the stencil needs to be BIG. I want to model it after this tree stencil from urban outfitters, if you go to the wall decor under furnish on the site, you can't miss it.
I'm wondering what type of material I should use for the stencil, and where I could find whatever type of material that is. the plan is to paint the stencial multiple times on the wall.
thanks!

i would go to a paper store (stationery store) and maybe get that super thin cardboard with the shine coating. you might need a lot of boards and secure them in a grid since you plan to do a large stencil
What you are looking for is called oilboard or stencilboard. You may be able to find it at larger office supply stores.

2 words stick out to me. Big and multiple. Why not either buy, or rent an overhead projector? Have the tree copied onto clear vinyl and shine on the walls as many times as you want. Trace the outline and move to the next area. Do this one day, and return the projector. Come back the next day and fill in the lines. " Paint-By-Number"
I have been told that craft shops sell the projectors for about $40.00, but I have never looked for one.
