How to Stencil a Wall Border ?

Answers

you can get sets at b and q.
Go down to your craft store and pick out a stencil, then paint with a spounge.
I saw a really neat one on Trading Spaces. Cristy, the designer, used a stencil and applied drywall spackle. When the design was dry, she painted it to match the room. There was a border, but it wasn't cheesy looking like some borders tend to be.
If you found a pretty design in or on some print in your room ,maybe a bedspread or a picture or rug .again watch the colors in all of those things to try to pull it all together. You could trace it onto a piece of paper take it to Kinko's,they will make it the size you want .then transfer to apiece of plastic and you have created your very own custom stencil. I did one on a piece of furniture for a customer of mine see my site - www.kroseart.com have fun...
First find a stencil pattern that you like, they are found at paint stores, hardware stores, or craft stores. Although you can use regular paint, it is runnier and it is a bit easier to use stencil paint which can be bought the same place that you buy the stencil. Also, buy a stencil brush or stencil sponge. You will need spray glue too, purchased at same place. When you are ready, mark straight line or registration marks on wall so that your stencil will be straight, spray the stencil and stick it at your starting point(probably in a corner somewhere). Keep a paper towel handy when painting, as you want to put the paint on sparingly. Dip your sponge or brush into paint and daub on towel to take off excess then use dabbing motion to put onto stencil ( do not brush on as you will get paint running under the edges of the pattern). Keep going around the area where you want to put stencil following the registration marks on your stencil to keep the pattern even. good luck!!
