tattoo stencils are liek guides for a tattoo. its basically a plastic card with the desin cut in it. you use air brush paint to get it on. you can buy one but it'll proabably cost alot to get a custom on.

you can have your tat artist draw one up for you and he can just put the stencil on you if thats what you want. custom one? every time you describe what you want its custom when the artist draws it up depending on your specific idea.

I don't know what a tattoo stencil is but I'm sure you can use the coloring books ones for little kids as a tattoo stencil.

Just give them a basic idea and let them use their imagination from there. That way you have a tat that no one else will ever have! :)

If you take a picture or your own design to a tattoo artist, he will run it through a special machine to tuen it into a stencil. When the stencil comes out, instead of it being just a photocopy of your design, it is made from special ink, is reverse of the original design, and is made to stick to your skin. It looks a lot like carbon paper and the ink that goes on you is purple. This helps tattoo artists follow the design lines easier than trying to freehand it. It also helps them stay true to your design and not modify it any. Some tattoo artists will do just about everything by stencil while some will freehand some of their stuff. You don't want a stencil made until you are ready to get the tattoo because the paper is really thin and will tear easily. You can't get it wet either.

Two pictures come with it: a full color one (what its gonna look like in the end), and a line stencil (for the outline). they usually range from 5 to 20 dollars. But if you want a custom one, just go to a local tattoo shop (or ask someone that is really good at drawing) to make up a design just like you want it, so no one else will have the same design as you! Good luck! and make sure of the design you want and where you wanna get it, because it's permanent and there for life, but if you find the right design for you, you'll be glad you got it!
