Tattoo Stencils Question And Answer
I want a band logo tattoo, are they copyright or how about do I get the stencil for one etc?
Are band logo's copyrighted where as tattoo's? Simply how do I go about getting one?

take a cd cover and run it through a copier, If you take it into a tattoo shop, they can do it.
Find the bands logo and get copies made of it black and white AND one with color and bring them to your favorite tattoo shop. Tyr to make it your own though and talk to the artist about embelishing it to make it more personal.
lol@copyright...
can you imagine bumping into the band and they make you laser it off? I don't think so.
Google some images. Usually the band has thier own website with some artwork also, screensavers, wallpaper etc etc.
Just don't do a total rip off.
Also on the top 10 no no's for a tattoo is Bands right next to your lovers name and barb wire.
what sounds cool now could really be stupid later.
I am all for tattoos btw. Just wary of band tats.
I used to think Metallica was the bomb, now I think they are a bunch of babies. Van Halen was cool, now they are just sad.
Ditto what spink said.....I cannot tell you how much my music taste has changed over time. Thank god I never got a tattoo of what I like in the 80's or 90's.
To answer the question, lots of people have band tattoos, so if that what floats your boat, you wouldn't have anything to worry about in that regard.
the bands logo is not copyrighted so all you need to do is find the tattoo you want and take it into the tattoo shop. i wouldn't get a band's name tattooed on you though. you music taste might chance, and you'll regret getting that tattoo. but if you thought about it a lot and that's really what you want to do...then go for it. the tattoo place is not going to call the FBI and say that you got a copyrighted thing tattooed on you. lol! j/k - good luck.
And what happens if you decide the band sucks a** in 2 years?
i have a band tat on my ankle. but it's not just for the band. yeah i love them, but it is also to remind me of something very personal. and i'm in the process of fixing something to go around it to make it more mine instead of just the band symbol. most bands love to see their fans with their tats. (except metallica, they don't seem to like anyone to show that they like them) i'd say don't get it just because it's the bands symbol, but if it has more meaning than just standing for the band, go for it.
