Stencils Question And Answer

Cutting stencils?

Okay, so I'm making shirts with stencils. I printed the fonts. But I can't figure out how to cut out letters like "O" and "A". Because if you have an "O" and cut around it, you just get a circular stencil. Because the middle part makes it an "O". So I want to know how to cut out those letters while keeping the middle parts intact. Please help??

that's a tough one. either you have to alter your font and have little connection(s). Or do an alternate color separation by blocking out the middle on a previous run. check out stencil revolution's tutorials: http://www.stencilrevolution.com/tutorials/tutorialsview.php?id=7 have fun!
You can make small connections between the two, but if you are stenciling it is also possible to get around that. After cutting out the outer and inner portions of the letter, put spray glue (Elmers makes a cheap kind but any will do) on the inner portion. Allow that to dry completely, and it will form a sticky layer on the stencil. Next, arrange the letter with the inner portion inside the outer (like the triangle in the A). If you have sliding problems, try more glue or painters tape. Apply your color as you please. I would also recommend trying this technique or any out first on paper, since it is flat and a little more easy to get your technique mastered on before you go to your final project.
Hi: I've done a lot of what your doing . So first thing don't cut the B,O,A,R,P,Q,8,0 and any other letters with circle in them all the way through. If you look at a manufactured stencils set of letters They leave little connections on those letters for that reason, so do the same thing; if you need to connect them then finish connecting them by painting them with a small paint brush instead, if your spay painting it; then keep the cut pieces and put a cut off toothpick in the center of it, so you can place it in the letter, Remove by tweezers when your done spay painting you will be surprised at the results. Or use a Manufactured set of stencil.
