Stenciling Question And Answer
Stenciling stars onto fabric?
I want to do my room in gray and black. Everything that's black Im putting silver stars on. I cant find a black with stars bed set so I figured I'd just buy an all black bed set and add the stars myself. Im wondering what I should use (stencils, sponge, etc), what kind of paint I should use and if anyone has ever tried this before? Im not super crafty so I dont want it to turn out terrible.

A craft store like A.C. Moore or Michael's will have fabric paint. That's the product you'll want to use. It can't withstand a lot of laundering, so save the stars for the comforter and shams, and not the sheets, okay?
You could either silkscreen stars (a good how-to is available at craftster.org) or, much easier, sponge-paint them on. Buy several fine-pored cellulose sponges (a dollar store is one source) and cut them into stars. Pour your paint in a flat dish with a lip. Dip the sponge stars, let them soak up paint, and carefully carry them *over a second plate to catch drips* to the cloth, then press gently in place, transferring the paint.
You know that JoAnn stores often have fabric with stars in the juvenile prints?
if i were you i would either use stencils and paint or even better stencils and fabric marker but im not sure if there washable
on a bed frame I would use a plastic stencil and acrylic paint.
