Stencil Art Question And Answer
hi! For art, we are designing a stencil for a t-shirt. I wanted to do some colorful rainbow, swirls kind of thing in the background. But coming down the side I wanted to have some words in Spanish. I was thinking of "Soñamos de..." (We dream of...) First, tell me if this is right lol :) and I wanted to know any suggestions that might sound nice in Spanish. "We dream of love" or "we dream of happiness". Any suggestions you have would be welcome and their spanish translations even more so!
Thanks so much!!!!
This is my friends site and he offers custom/freehand tattoos. Drawn directly on your body without stencil. Do you like his art and would you get a tat by him?

I haven't had any luck using a search engine yet... Any suggestions?
I make stencils for my art and am limited to regual size sheet of paper. I would like to expand the size of these stencils to fully fit shirts and other things. If there is no way to make a projector and you know of good places to find ones for cheap then let me know please. It will be much appreciated. Thank you.

I just read an article By Charlie Brooker attacking the swathes of people who descibe Banksy as a genius for spraying crude stencils on walls - http://www.guardian.co.uk/commentisfree/story/0,,1878555,00.html
What do you think?
My GCSE sketchbook has lots of Banksy-influenced work; stenciling and so on, but i need some original ideas. Does anyone know of any cool graffiti artists, ideas for a compostion, layout, websites ect? Much appriectiated -- Im having a creative block!
I cut stencils for spray paint, and I'd like to know of better materials to make stencils. I use plain cardboard, but it's too thick. Does anybody know of any good cutting materials to make stencils with? I cut with an exacto knife. Also, any high quality spray paint? Please give websites or brand names.
I've seen it everywhere. In magazines, in internet, in CD covers, in clothes... But I want to know what the name of it is. Here are some examples:

Don't Pay attention to the theme (what the illustrations are about), I am interested in the technique, que repetitive patterns, the use of stencil like little images, the way the human body is defined in black and white shapes, the little twirls and fine curved lines, the intense colors, ink splaters, etc.
they only show the dark spaces on the picture...the shades make up the object, for example, most of lenin's pictures...or taggings they do on walls with a stencil.

I need help choosing the right paint for this project. I want a flat color background on a stretched cotton canvas, then stencil in a pattern using a glossy version of the same color. This should produce a nice effect under the right lighting.
I don't even know which types of paint look good on canvas and which ones will provide the desired effect (oil, acrylic, spray paint??). Please help.

I am doing an artist study on Wayne Thiebaud (this painting)
http://lessons.ctaponline.org/~ctosta/SaladsSD_full.jpg
I have a blank, white A3 page to fill and make interesting.
I was going to do a title with those word stencils and draw a big chocolate sundae like the ones in the painting, but has anyone got any more interesting ideas? It has to be sophisticated but interesting and fun/ beautiful.
By the way I am doing AS level art.
Thanks
x
I only have that image and some writing so I need to fill some space/background. I have written this about it (you don't have to read it!)
Much of Wayne Thiebaud’s work includes foods such as pastries, pies, cakes and ice creams, which was thought to be influenced by the fact that he worked in a café, ‘Mile High and Red Hot’ (Mile High being ice cream and Red Hot, a hot dog). His work predates that of most other pop artists, suggesting that he influenced the Pop Art movement. He is connected to the Pop artists, as he was interested in mass culture. This painting particularly shows this, as the food has been produced in mass and ordered neatly in rows.
...continued
The food itself is simplified and stylised, yet realistic. The colours are also realistic and quite subdued and natural, using browns, green, beiges and cream. The spread of food looks as if it has been prepared and laid out in a café, ready to be sold by the plate. The dark shadows made by the food are characteristic of advertisements in that time.
I like this painting, and it links well to my work as the lines of food have produced a strong pattern. It influences me to try arranging objects in rows. For my final print I could have rows of objects in the background and large stencils on top. I could also try simplifying objects in the style of Thiebaud.
as a long time fanatic of street art (graffiti, stickets, etc), i've finally decided it's time to make a little of my own. i know what i *want* to make, but i don't know *how* to get what i want out of sharpies and spraypaint. i have a couple stencils made up, but nothing too complicated.
any advice? any sites that could help me out??
thanks!
I want to know if its illegal to create an artistic image of a celebrity (stencil, drawing, painting etc) and sell it for a profit. Do you need to get permission?? I know that photographers take pictures of celebrities and sell them at a high price to magazines. I just wanted to know if it is the same/different for art. Thanks!

There's a girl I'm really into and I was thinking of ways to show her that I think she's really special, something that no-one else has ever done for her. I'm not sure if she's majorly into art, but she takes it as a subject at college. So, I sometimes do stencils and stuff, just when I get bored.
If someone made you a stencil on a canvas would you think it was really lame or nice?
My mother is remodeling her bedroom and she was wanting a wall art for one wall, somthing simplistic, she like sunflowers and was wanting to go with that, my question is what are somegood websites for finding good wall art or fabric mural, or even stencils to do it yourself painting? I have been searching high and low but she is very particular. Nothing to expensive or outlandish thanksa for your help...
I have the art work done , i need to get a stencil made up about A3 ,so i can use acrylic paints to make images, is there any place who will do this ?
i have a few questions on this subject, im so so so intrested, any help will be great.
1. any new ideas for street art, i mean somthing other than stivker, stencil, wood block and graffiti, or wheat paste posters.
2. is there in order or steps to how a throw-up or piece is made, it seems like these are done in layers you know, or is just plan old any way ya want?
3. is there a site with some good street art, where members who join can upload there own work and has good articles and helpful info?
4.i live in a small town, so unlike the city its not so easy to "paint the town red" without the usual hassle of being caught etc. any ideas of some good spots where the work can still be seen but isnt risky?
thanks to anyone who adds an answer, its appreciated.
i do stencils, illustrations, paintings and line art.
how can i get my art into an exhibition or an art gallery to be reconised by other artists or admirers of art?
sorry for the bad spelling if there are any
Would you agree that stencil graffiti is the biggest art movement of the 20th century? If so, why? If not, what movement would you say was the biggest?
I was given a sign-up sheet by my art teacher, so he seems to think I'm qualified, but everything we've done in class so far has been simple, usually involving tracing and stencils.
I enjoy art and like to make things, but I don't feel as if the quality of my work is, as the Society's site boasts of its students, outstanding. I feel most of the other members would be leagues ahead of me.
im making some stencils for art class.
but my teacher's making me take the pictures myself and use a computer to edit out the major lines on the persons face, but i dont know how or what program to use.
if you know please let me know and give me some directions on what to do.
thanks a lot.
There's a larger circle with little rivets along the edge and you fit the smaller circles with patterns inside it, then move it in circles to get flower-like pattern.
What is that called, and is it based on geometry?
I m a beginner and have no idea what it's like to use spray paints, though I am very good with paint brushes. I would be greatful if anyone could give me any info about this particular matter. Thanks.
